저번에 점심 먹고 오는 길에 같이 먹으러 간 흑형이 왜 쟤는 안 오고 있냐고 묻길래 아.., 쟤 지금 신발끈 묶고 있음ㅇㅇ 이라고 얘기해 주고 싶었는데 한 번도 써 본 적이 없는 표현이라 뭐 이상하게 말했더니 흑형이 알려줬다. lace라고.. 끈이라고 하니까 strap, cord, string, rope 뭐 이런 단어가 생각나는데 strap은 가죽으로 된 손목시계 줄이나 혁대 같은 느낌이고 rope는 밧줄이나 전기코드 같은 느낌이고 cord는 노끈이나 얇은 밧줄 같은 느낌이고 string은 실 같은 느낌. 신발끈은 lace, shoelace 라고 한단다. lace one's shoes 하면 신발끈 (구두끈) 매는 거고 사전 찾아보니 shoestring이라는 말도 있다.
